In no particular order: * InceptionHosting - had various VPS over the years, good range of plans for different project needs * Naranjatech - 2 years so far, great uptime, no issues * Yourserver.se/Makonix - had service with them in the past for a f…

(Quote) As far as I could tell, the provider made no guarantees about the distribution ratio of resource brackets or the odds of getting a VPS at the higher end of resource configuration. If it was a non-working product, it would be a different stor…

Voted "no" in the poll. The Mystery Box, while a fun novelty as applied to VPS, just wasn't something I was interested in getting, regardless of the box opening results. Frankly, I thought people were buying them for laughs, as collectibl…

Thanks for the flash offers. Eventually got another one for the newer cpu + more disk. :)

(Quote) Is this in response to something else or to my question about VAT? It's okay if it's made clear up front. Just confirming whether it was a checkout error or part of the offer conditions, as many providers automatically adjust VAT for custom…

Asking here in case other people also have similar questions. * Is the price to be adjusted for VAT if not in the EU? (It did not adjust for me during checkout?) * Are orders manually provisioned? If so, what's the ETA? * Does the double bandwidth …

Disk/network bench from 2yo 2 GB box, which gets regular use compiling from source. Bench skipped CPU, which is older than the current offers. This is just for a sense of how a box might settle over time. # ## ## ## ## ## ## ## ## ## ## ## ## ## ##…

Been mostly lurking, but logged in to put in a good word for this provider. Got their 2 GB BF offer 2 years ago which came with 30 GB NVMe back then. It's been solid, runs fine whenever I needed it. Cool to see the disk bumped up this time. Tempting…

Can't comment on their .nu/.se pricing, but they are reliable. Got a domain with them for a few years now.

(Quote) $7? On a more serious note, thanks a lot to you and @mikho for keeping the ship in great shape. While I don't post very often, I do read threads and pass on the word about LES. Here's to another 5 years of success.

Congrats on the new suite. :) Adding another recommendation. I have a Mouse storage server with them from a 2019 BF offer that's still rolling along very well. I've been using it as a backup box and Minio bucket. In the entire time, it had 1 uplin…

MediaTemple used to be all right years ago, before GoDaddy got to them. A friend had service with them for over 10 years, uptime was good until around the time it was acquired, around 2013. Then it was MySQL connect errors every few months, occasion…

Wekan is relatively easy to set up manually, which makes it a cool option to quickly put up an instance for a small team and get going. Only thing is it uses MongoDB via Meteor which might be a turn-off for some people. I also like Taiga, though it…

Two more potentially for single-sided T-shirts. (Image)

My first one was probably DSL because it was one of the easiest to get on dialup. The downside was missing out on some of the more useful applications available in other distros out of the box, but it was also the most reliable distro that could boo…

Here are some initial ideas for merchandise. They are front/back designs that should fit T-shirts and mugs. 2 using existing LES colours and 2 on LES forum topics. (Image)

My nominations, if the individuals are interested and will consider the role: @mikho Why: great record of welcoming and helping other members on multiple forums, sharing knowledge in tutorials or wiki. Years of solid moderation. @Mason Why: acti…

Congratulations AnthonySmith and Clouvider on the acquisition, and all the best with the new arrangement. :)

Having more admins sounds good, paid if possible. They can help with the bus factor and extend monitoring to more hours in the day. Also to avoid one person having to do all the work, getting burnout and end up leaving permanently as a result.

(Quote) Yeah, my impression was there had been a major change in leadership direction around the time william left. Raspberry Pi colo got the axe sometime after. (Quote) Great, thanks.

@AnthonySmith Thanks very much for starting this forum and all that you do to keep LES running! The opening posts were interesting and relevant background reading to get a sense of why the forum is set up the way it is, no need to apologise for the…

The setup being opt-out is very telling. The other day: People Can’t Vacuum Or Use Their Doorbell Because Amazon’s Cloud Servers Are Down It could be a point for having a wifi mesh depending on how you look at it. It doesn't shake off the botnet v…

"Never" as in never since LES signup. A lot of LET threads became tiresome to read with the amount of unfettered filler and hostility to legit support/sysadmin questions. Meanwhile the forum is part of a site peddling mostly low-quality, b…

(Quote) Haha. I suppose for those still owning leaky barges, it's a small comfort to know where the leaks are and how critical they are, should the barges sink.
