Top tier lowend degen shit I think my half dozen dedi/colo boxes cost less than what you paid for all of these...

If they added those icons from WHM to the new cPanel theme it'd be a lot better. Icons make it so much quicker to skim and find what you need.

Depends on the server. For multi-user/shared access stuff, generally non-standard port & enforcing key-based auth is good enough. I have some shared hosting setups for friends/family/clients which needs pw auth so I'll do non-standard port + f…

copy/pasta'ing my reply from OGF, lol Yeah, they're good/legit. Their panel can be a bit clunky, although it just got an update so it's a bit better. If you're looking for other options you can check TLD-list: https://tld-list.com/tld/nu https://…

(Quote) You don't want to see my attempt at scripting that.. it'd be rough.

(Quote) This would be really easy to add with a single curl to ipinfo.io, example: root@spry-phx:~# curl ipinfo.io/org AS398646 Spry Servers, LLC

Have had Hestia in production for 2-3 yrs now and like it a lot. Production = business uses, supporting a half dozen websites/apps that handle 4-5 thousand visits/day. It can be quirky at times, but once you dig around and understand the template s…

Those are cheaper to keep as RTO/rentals than to colo yourself based on power usage, unless you got some dirt cheap power. Even in cheaper spots I colo those would still be $50-65/mo each. If it works for you though, do your thing

To answer the original question, no - I don't think it's worth it. I think it's overpriced for what you get and lacks some basic features out of the box unless you jump through extra hoops in the name of 'security'.

@mikho I'm blind. Ignore me. lol

@Mason @mikho Suggestion - maybe you guys can temporarily suspend these limits to get provider tags for hosts that are verified at OGF? (Quote) "strike while the iron's hot" and just auto approve people without the post limit + wait time.…

(Quote) Start interesting threads over here. If a provider posts an offer elsewhere, email/DM them and say they should create an account and post it here.

(Quote) Could I suggest doing some example configs for popular apps and showing estimated pricing? Example: I don't really know what the CPU or memory requirements would be for an Uptime Kuma instance with 50 monitors.

(Quote) Yeah, Cloudflare (and I believe Akamai) handle private relay. But this is the internet relay/proxy service, not email forwarding. Apple's mail thing is called "Hide My Email" and they run it themselves.

I run time machine for local backups on my Macs and Arq (https://www.arqbackup.com/) for remote encrypted backups. Arq has a Windows client now. They discount it ~50% every so often, I think I got mine on sale during world backup day but they might…

I turned on the private relay feature and it just bounces your traffic through the closest cloudflare or akamai servers, I've seen IPs from both. Slight difference between this and warp is that it fully hides your IP, whereas Warp passes your real …

(Quote) Ooh, nice. Do you happen to live in MX? How's the local peering/connectivity?

I think by default the iOS app will set a keepalive in the wireguard config, but the Mac app won't unless you specify it. Not sure if that's your fix, but the first thing that came to mind when you said it works on phone but not laptop.

(Quote) Yep, I have a few domains with them because they were the cheapest for registration/transfer. They managed to snag 2 domains for me with the backorder system

First VPS ever was SliceHost I think. First LE* providers were BuyVM & Ramnode circa 2013-ish. Shared hosting was.. MediaTemple I think, back in mid 00's

Sav.com has a "free" backorder service, where basically they'll try to snipe the domain for you exactly at expiry. Free is in quotes because they don't charge you $50-100 upfront like most backorder services, you just pay like an extra $6-…

If everyone's bumping the ol' thread... Nexril has Ryzen VMs now in Dallas (3950x) https://nexril.net/vps

(Quote) NL-IX is in Luxconnect DC 1.1-1.2 in Bettembourg - not DC2 in Roost/Bissen. Pretty sure LU-CIX is the only game in town there.

Or: Build the site in WordPress, export as a completely static site :sunglasses: https://github.com/leonstafford/wp2static

It sounds like the grub issue others have mentioned, and when they unmount the rescue image it fails to boot on its own so they stick it back on the rescue image. The other thing it could be referring to is, if it's a weird hardware config it might…

@AnthonySmith Fair. When I think private, I think invite-only private with no issues. If it's just hiding behind a simple reg then yeah, definitely not private. To back up your OVH point, French provider is probably the best. OVH or Scaleway are go…
