(Quote) Ah - my GreenCloud VPSes are all on SolusVM.
-
@vlogyhub Sorry, it's already gone now. Someone bought it from me earlier today. I'll have one or two others available for transfer at some point though. Consolidating some VPSes onto one larger one :)

I didn't realise they even have a backup system. I use Borgbackup on all my VPSes, and make two backups - one to a storage VPS and one to my home server.

This VPS didn't work well for @imok due to location, so it's available for anyone else that wants it. It's a good deal for $33/year!
-
(Quote) Thanks - It looks like this is the case and I just misunderstood their support when I asked about it last time. I think you're in luck @imok. I'm asking them what the process is.
-
(Quote) Ooh thanks for the clarification. I'll ask them tomorrow, and if they say it's okay, I'll start transferring it to you @imok. I've been using GreenCloudVPS since 2018 so my account age isn't an issue :) I love their San Jose location since …

Oh yeah, they're a bit strict about transfers of promotional services. Sorry :(
-
(Quote) Sure, it can be yours  It's ready to transfer. Just PM me and let me know how you want to pay. GreenCloud's transfers are manually completed at the moment. Once you send the money, I need to open a ticket with them and get them to t…

(Quote) I've still got the HostHatch "YOLO" bundles from their Black Friday 2020 flash sales which were effectively $7/year/VPS. One of the bundles was 10 locations for $70/year. 1GB RAM, 10GB NVMe, 1 vcore E5-2680, IPv4 and IPv6. HostHatc…

This is a really nice post. Nice work! Since this is a server-related forum, it's probably worth mentioning the U.2 interface. U.2 drives look like 2.5 inch SATA drives, but it provides a PCIe x4 connection like M.2 does. It's also hot swappable. I…

(Quote) As far as I know, something about packet routing or NAT or something is still single-threaded on BSD. When I was testing, it was hitting 100% usage of a single core. On OpenWrt, it was using all cores evenly. I was able to hit 8Gbps with a …

I tried Opnsense but I've got a 10Gbps internet connection and couldn't get 10Gbps throughput no matter what I tweaked. It was maxing out at around 3.8Gbps even after enabling offloading, disabling Spectre and Meltdown mitigations, and tweaking a bu…

The only thing I'm looking for is deals from GreenCloudVPS, and they have their 10th birthday sale next week so I might not even have to wait until Black Friday. Their 9th birthday sale had VPSes with 9 cores (Xeon) or 4 cores (AMD EPYC), 9GB RAM, 9…

(Quote) The internet connection is only $30/month 😲 I have a small network rack with a 10Gbps router (TP-Link ER8411) and a 10Gbps switch (MikroTik CRS312-4C+8XG-RM): (Image) The bottom switch is a 16-port PoE switch that I bought to use with secu…

Use a separate email address, get a PO box, and use a VoIP service like voip.ms to get a different phone number

Pretty boring at the moment - Just based on the location of the server (most are VPSes). (Image) It's starting to annoy me a bit though, since I was inconsistent with when I used country ISO code (e.g. ch** for Switzerland, ca** for Canada) vs wh…

I ended up signing up for a VPS with GreenCloudVPS, since they have good reviews on here and OGF, and their live + ticket support are both very responsive. I'm a bit worried about the CPU usage quotas in the Terms of Service but I guess we'll see ho…

Does anyone here have opinions on GreenCloudVPS, good or bad? They have some "budget servers" available for preorder, in my budget.

(Quote) I used to use BuyVM - in fact I was a customer for 9 years from way back when they had servers in San Jose with ColoCrossing - but they're outside my price range this time. I also ended up hitting issues with high iowait and slower network p…

(Quote) I ended up getting my VM up and running again. This was an NVMe VM rather than a storage VM though. It took a while. What I ended up doing was restoring the 10 GiB backup to a different HostHatch 10 GiB VM (or I guess I could have restored…

(Quote) This should have really been mentioned in the email or the control panel. Customers wouldn't expect that a "reinstall" button would reduce the amount of disk space on the VPS. I reinstalled one of my VMs to see if it'd get rid of …
