(Quote) For the most part it is with a few caveats. 1) Install tries to put you on their Oracle Unbreakable kernel by default instead of the Red Hat compatible. UEK versioning doesn't stay stable per major version. 2) Every once in a rare while they…

(Quote) Reminds me of that old joke. "A man went to see his doctor and said, "Doctor, every time I move my arm like this it hurts. What do you recommend?" The doctor said, "Don't move your arm like that." Maybe don't nest …

(Quote) I'm not sure how much information is available on Swedish tax forms but at least in my case it's more a concern about identity theft. I agree with you that I don't care who knows what. ( My opinion ) Most of the people truly trying to hide …

(Quote) He introduced himself to the community by being kind of an ass. Why is this a surprise?

(Quote) Having had my identity stolen twice over the years I'm going to say yes because it's an annoying amount of forms to fill out and phone calls to make. Two of my least favourite things - paperwork and people. ;-)

(Quote) Well there's trust and then there's trust. Do I trust them enough to keep my mp3 collection there? Sure. Do I trust them enough to keep my unencrypted tax returns there? No. The consequences for being wrong are higher in the second scenario.

Never pass up an opportunity to get a shot in.

(Quote) Technically he asked whether Adguard would run with the default ports ... which it likely will quite happily ( it just won't work on ipv4 ).

(Quote) Sounds like I might've touched a nerve. It was just an attempt at levity since you said you left Facebook but never really left using the other apps. If you took that as an attack then I sincerely apologize as that was not my intent.

(Quote) "WhatsApp joined Facebook in 2014, but continues to operate as a separate app with a laser focus on building a messaging service that works fast and reliably anywhere in the world." "Instagram from Facebook" So you left…

(Quote) You're not crazy. It happened to me too. :)

Perhaps draw a little more attention to the fact that you're mounting the source read-only? Just in case someone ever wants to restore something.

(Quote) I'm curious what are people using the (4) cores but only 512MB of RAM for?

Didn't @Daniel just do a blog article about that?

(Quote) I don't know if Virmach appreciated it but I certainly did so for that I thank you.

(Quote) Are you hungry for the relunch?

(Quote) Doesn't this say it's raid? It's a weird ZFS raid but raid. (Quote)

(Quote) No worries. I only mentioned it so people would know my experience. I've actually found Hosthatch to be very responsive for anything they can do in short order. "Can you transfer this VPS?" Done. "Can I get a private interfa…

(Quote) Nope, took about 12 hours. (Quote) I talked with them a little bit. What I took from it was they're reviewing all transfers because some people are actually selling promotional machines and not disclosing that promo machines have special co…

It does seem a little weird. The $2.50 transfer fee is all that really needs to be paid up front. After that it's my machine and I renew it or don't.

(Quote) I've always considered public key logins to be 2FA - something you have ( the key file ) and something you know ( the password to the key file ). It's not OTP but it is 2FA.

(Quote) Don't let the Canadians see that you lumped them in with us .... ;-) ( that CA is Canada not California )

(Quote) Which as we all know is the best kind of correct. :)

I wonder if something like https://github.com/StreisandEffect/streisand might work for you. It's a bit heavier than some of the simple Wireguard install scripts but it sets up a couple different vpn/proxy methods as well as different user profiles a…

(Quote) I was going to argue relevancy but since you specified "old and unpatched stuff" I figured learning the wrong way to do things was kinda on target. :P
