Big day! The first servers what go to colocation by iHostART

edited March 31 in Industry News

I am delighted to announce that we are gradually transitioning to a Tier 3 data center located in Timisoara, Romania.

Over the next two weeks, we will be relocating our first server, along with some VMs, from a private client to this high-performance data center. Within the next two months, our goal is to migrate our entire infrastructure, encompassing all iHostART customers, to this new DC. We will provide further updates related to this transition in this thread.

For the first time, iHostART will be able to offer you high-performance services in the shortest possible time. Feedback from our customers over the past few months following the upgrade to the new infrastructure (available at uptime.ihostart.com) has predominantly highlighted issues related to downtime and internet speed. However, problems such as performance issues, CPU Steal, or unstable performance have been resolved for quite some time now.

The new data center will boast a network composed of two providers:

Main ISP Cogent with:

1x 10 Gbps shared best effort (provided by the data center)
1 Gbps from Telia (for backup)
Following the migration of all servers, an additional 10 Gbps dedicated (non-shared) connection will be added, resulting in a total bandwidth of 21 Gbps!

I extend my gratitude to @host_c for their invaluable recommendations regarding routers and network configurations to ensure smooth operations. Additionally, I want to thank all our customers for placing their trust in us. Without you, I would not have been able to colocate these servers together.

The only downside is that our residential ASN can no longer be used. Instead, we will be utilizing our own ASN (AS: https://db-ip.com/as215740). However, our residential ASN and current location will still be operational for a considerable period. This will cater to customers with old dedicated servers equipped with DDR3, as well as for special offers that we will soon launch, particularly targeting Asia, especially Chinese customers. For these purposes, we will continue to utilize our old location and residential ASN (AS: 9050).

The new data center is equipped with generators, UPS systems,Thermal camera, and redundant networks. It is semi-governmental and hosts numerous websites for town halls and some hospitals. Of course, our top priority remains Ignore DMCA, privacy, and porn websites :).

The data center's ASN is https://db-ip.com/as41635, representing a longstanding company that has been in existence for 18 years, with a consistent increase in turnover.

Regards,
Calin

I looked up the datacenter and what I found out is very Romanian. I see they utilize servers cooling for beers, just next to the racks with hardware in it. Very safe.

And this is apparently how it looks from the outside, reminds me of C1V "Premier datacenter".

Either way, I wish you good luck and congratulations on the big move. Don't forget to share pictures when you move in :)

This is the location they provided on https://www.datacentermap.com/c/sc-livehosting-datacenter-srl/datacenters/
And the picture with beers is from their Facebook page.

But I trust your word on it, you are the boss :)

  • @treesmokah thanks , i'm apreciate! The data center look exactly how you found in the photos from facebook

I just hope we wont see an outage caused by spilled beer ;)

Jokes aside, again congrats and looking forward in to new offers. I hope you will be able to "select" transit as Cogent isn't exactly free speech friendly.

Hello, yes I know that, but unfortunately this is the only thing I could offer, unfortunately colocation is 50-70% more expensive than our current location, but I can guarantee you that the data center is Pro privacy, if check the Facebook profile of the CEO of livehosting, you will see that he is a very open-minded person, as are the employees of this data center, they are not people interested in money, and people who do hosting out of passion and are more inclined to the part of solving the customer's problems to get every cent from him, as happened to me with my ISP, my electricity supplier and many years

That's why I wanted to choose this data center, when I have a problem I talk directly to the CEO, not to a lot of employees in a corporation

I'd bring it as "Could you look into the possibility of offering BGP services", but yes, it was on my mind as well :-D

edit: one way or another I had congratulations on top of this post as well. I really mean it, but it's a bit over the top to have my two posts under each other saying the same ;-) All the best!

True. Usually providers make offers on special occasions. You could make a private offer for LES members. From what I noticed, people around here love storage so much, they even preorder it.
