New KS-LE

Anyone else see the new KS-LE? Looks like a killer machine with the SSDs and the iGPU.

That does look like a killer deal.
    Nice catch. :+1:

I've been trying to stay away from OVH, but they finally got me with this one.

Its 1gig internal, 1gig down just 100Mbit up.
You can still blast the gig internal for backups.

  • Nice, but nope.

I honestly don't have a lot of workloads that use over 100m sustained, a lot of my sites/services will use maybe 20-30mbps. I do have some boxes with 10, 20, 40g in case I need to burst, but I think a lot of the time people just want a big port to say they have a big port, and then just leave it idle. At least I know that I'll be able to do 100mbit 24/7 365 if I want to. This being said, OVH really needs to up their port speeds. Kimsufi should be 250mbit and SYS should be 500mbit by now.

Tempting to get one just to offer permanent low end instances in FR. Its a shame that KS servers only come with a single ipv6 address :(

  • It is not ECC RAM, or at least not guaranteed

    That makes it more tempting...

The trade seems to be E5 vs E3 but SSD for the same price.
Depends if you want SSD or a better CPU.

I mean you get 1.6TB SSD for 15€

I think so, these have the same 4 core 8 thread core counts, as well as the benefit of an iGPU. You also get SSD.

  • You can use "ECOSETUP" code to remove setup fees (for new customers)

  • I grabbed one, also. Thanks for the find. Now I have to find a use for it. Lol.

  • Such a nice machine for just 100 Mbit/s. I can skip this one.

  • Isn't OVH going to jack up the prices soon?

  • Just FYI, there's a second one with a Xeon E5 for 20 euros. Specs are the same, but instead of 4c/8t with iGPU, it's 6c/12t with no iGPU.

  • Does this machine come with ipmi?

    No

No IPMI but you do get the standard OVH installer, which is much better than the old Kimsufi/SYS one.

I see so many people "needing" 8 core 16gb ram vps with 10g port, and they end up just hosting a few static sites. Then again, if people accurately sized their infra to match their workloads, I'm sure providers would make less profit and nodes would have less idle resources. So it's two sides of a coin I guess.

The same for large storage, NVMe and IPv4 - people want it even though it's mostly unnecessary, 99% of the time.

Yep I'm sure providers hate me because I will use 100% of the resources I paid for, I don't buy anything oversized. People just like big numbers on their YABS output.

I got one to make fun $1 nat vps dealz. But unable to install iso working 🥲

  • Has anyone recently gone through their VAT exemption process? My old Kimsufi account is exempt but OVHcloud doesn’t care about that I guess.
