Anyone used OVH Anycast DNS?

Just stumbled across OVH's Anycast DNS for 2 dollarydoo's per year https://www.ovhcloud.com/en-au/domains/options/dns-anycast/

Does anyone have any experience using OVH's Anycast DNS? I've been wanting to play around with Anycast or GeoDNS for a little bit now but I'm a cheap bugger so I've been putting it off due to the monthly fee's from most providers in the scene.

Would love to hear some thoughts on it.

  • anycasted dns is nothing special, in fact you can get it for free for example from https://www.cloudns.net/ or https://gcore.com/dns.
I have personally never really noticed a benefit of such solution, a "normal" dns can add a few MS of delay to resolving of domain(and most sites use high ttl values) so its not really noticeable later on.

on another note, highly recommend gcore dns, very generous free package and flawless experience.

Thanks! I think I had it in my head some how that there could be some noticeable performance increases but looking back now I was definitely getting it mixed up with GeoDNS.

Had a bit of a browse through gcore's offerings & it seems impressive, I'm currently using cloudflare for most things so I'm tempted to purchase a new domain just to test it out.
