Moreover, I feel I don't have time for anything, I can't even check my credit cards and invoices. When it came back up after the migration I took a full backup and made a weekly backup script but apparently, the script hasn't triggered in the last three months .

I'm not trying to beat you. I'm trying to tell you that posting on a thread on a forum isn't a very effective way of communicating with a provider who has a ticketing system for that express purpose.

Wow. That is patronizing. Anyone who knows about Virmach's ticketing system knows that it's very susceptible to becoming a black hole. They threaten you with fees if you don't do certain things to their satisfaction and delays if you bump tickets after months of being ignored, etc. The only way I found this resource was because of ignored tickets.
They now pretend that AI can help. They auto-merge unrelated tickets then treat that as a bump. They close tickets they improperly merged when one issue is resolved so that a new ticket has to be created for unresolved issues in the merged ticket. To assume someone came here first without creating a ticket is a bit of a stretch at best.
Multiple issues of mine have been left unread by a human for TEN months, including that fact that they say my domains are EXPIRED and so I have no control of them and they have been hijacked and pointing to some far east gambling site for MONTHS. The ticket system is NOT consistently effective, and, from what forum history shows, Virmach occasionally reads this site, but, at least in my case, and as showed by a pile of reviews, apparently not so much for at least some tickets.
I have lost my hosting service since December, access to the mail server for months, cannot receive mail, lost control of my domains, and, experienced months of downtime on a VPS -- all with no compensation or or adequate communication on their ticket system. Loss of domains is pretty devastating. I've owned mine for more than 20 years and they have allowed it to be taken over and I have no recourse. There's also the weird stuff like one domain they invoiced me for almost six months ahead of the renewal date; when I ignored it they disabled the domain controls even though the status still shows the renewal date out in November. Now they have the audacity to invoice me for the domain they have blocked me from using.
And, by the way, that web host has been posted on their network status site as down with "critical" status. That post was opened in July, long after my stuff went down, and has not been updated since July.
@nooneatall said: For the little amount I pay this is a huge service.
Ahh, context.
Also patronizing. If a vendor offers something in exchange for money, they should deliver. The little amount paid might be a red flag, but it doesn't obviate any responsibility on the part of the vendor to deliver what they promise, and it's pretty crappy to dump on someone just trying to get a resource that they paid for back, regardless of the size of the bill.
Loss of domains is pretty devastating. I've owned mine for more than 20 years and they have allowed it to be taken over and I have no recourse.
What domain?
The domain associated with a Virmach web host account that I paid for, which is locked, and, is not even up for renewal yet. Are you asking me for the literal domain name?

Nah, not that interesting, its just my surname with .net appended, but, I guess, that's part of what makes it compelling, and more hurtful that they aren't helping me get control of it back despite my 10 month old ticket. It has the appearance that I have to let the domain really expire and hope the thief doesn't register/renew it.

If it's pointing to a site you didn't point it at then someone else has already registered it. Doing a whois should verify.

whois is obfuscated by a proxy and the domain points through cloudflare.
The stupid thing is the domain root doesn't get traffic. All the traffic went to sub-domains, so the thief doesn't actually get benefit from having redirected it.
What I believe is that the server was compromised and that they got control of the control panel or something. The email services on that host were clearly compromised because https was no longer functional.
whois still shows the domain origin date associated with my action, so I take that to mean it was not re-registered (it never expired).
If the domain is still registered to you at godaddy, and the DNS servers are cloudflare, I'm not sure how you come to the conclusion that VirMach has stolen your domain. Virmach would not have any control over where your domain is pointing just because you bought web hosting from them. Help me to understand.

Virmach did not steal it. Another entity (apparently) stole (control of) it. The domain was transferred to Virmach's web host. It shows up in my Virmach Domains list. I have invoices for the domain renewal going back to when I purchased the hosting account. Virmach's UI shows the domain as both Expired, and, with a next payment due date of 11/23/2024. Per the due date, and my last invoice, it is not expired, so I should have control of it. Clearly they have an issue. If they are showing it as expired because it was transferred away, then it is stolen. I have no idea what is wrong, but Virmach is responsible for correcting the situation.
All my subdomains are deleted, and the root domain now points through Cloudflare to an Asian gambling site. When I had control of the domain, the name servers pointed to Virmach assets, not Cloudflare assets. Virmach was the last entity to take my money to renew the domain for a year, but I now, for the last ten months, I can no longer manage or use it in any way. Virmach has not responded to my ticket in over 10 months. GoDaddy will not talk to me because the domain is apparently registered in Virmach's name, and I cannot get Virmach to work on my behalf to get the situation corrected.
It is possible that someone compromised the host and gained control of the domain that way, so I may still own it, but regardless, it is as good as stolen since I cannot set the nameservers or manage the DNS in any way. Virmach is responsible since they took my money and since the web host account control panel under their control will not let me use my paid-for asset which they registered on my behalf - not to mention that they haven't served any of my web content to the internet for ten months.

If godaddy will not talk to you because the domain is not registered in your name, or no longer in your account, you should take that up with godaddy. A web hosting provider has nothing to do with domain control.
What makes you think that the domain is registered in VirMach's name? Because if this is provable, it is a big deal !!!
It is possible that someone compromised the host and gained control of the domain that way
No, not possible.
When was the last time that you paid godaddy for the domain renewal ? How long did you renew the domain for ?

I did not pay Godaddy. I paid Virmach. I don't know who Virmach registered it with, but it was renewed for a year, and, as I've stated multiple times, the next due date is 11/23/2024.
Godaddy requires photo ID of the registrant, which, of course, I do not have since Virmach renewed for me, or, the current registrant is not Virmach or myself. I gave Godaddy copies of my invoices, etc., but apparently I have no standing with them. So, I need Virmach to help me know things like where the domain was registered, etc. I don't know what's hard to understand about all this. I don't need community help, I need Virmach to read this, answer my ticket, etc. I know this isn't a Virmach support forum, but since they ignore my ticket, and since they seem to show up here, I posted it here for visibility.
Regardless, the community deserves to know that this can happen to customers until Virmach is more responsible with respect to maintaining servers, communication, and the ticket system.

What I think is that you paid VirMach for webhosting, and somehow think that covered the domain renewal. Godaddy disagrees and considered your domain expired after the 30 day grace period and sold it to someone else.
I understand that you are not looking for comments from the peanut gallery here, but since it is a public forum I can comment and you can feel free to ignore me.

But then again, domain renewal was originally included with the web hosting. At some point they broke that binding (yes I have documentation from past tickets). So they created a disparity between the start/end dates of the hosting account and the domain registration. At that time I had to intervene to prevent loss of the domain. They said they could not re-attach it and I'd have to pay separately (a rip-off for their mistake). Again, I have the receipts. Muddle about in someone else's business. Hmph. Maybe not, you're actually helping make it clearer and clearer why someone should NOT do business with them!
Virmach screwed it up. Try to pin it on me all you like. It won't fly. The domain was bound to that web host and it is completely standard practice for the hoster to renew domains in this situation. How it was screwed up, I don't know, you certainly don't know, and Virmach should communicate with their paying customer. If they mishandled the registration, which I don't doubt, then certainly everyone should know about that. As said at the first, the domain was hijacked. If it was taken out from under me because of their screw up, that could very well be why they won't answer the ticket. Regardless, its all conjecture until they answer the ticket isn't it? How about rail on them for TEN MONTHS OF IGNORING A TICKET. I lost access on 12/23, or earlier, which is before the end of the domain renewal.

Expiration date at the registrar shows Dec 26th not Nov 23rd.
I transferred it over to Virmach.
My invoice states I paid for domain renewal.

"Go away", "Bye" and "Blah blah blah" are not going to exactly endear yourself to the community. Seems you joined LES today just to rant.
