Note: 1. I use mac/ linux not sure about Windows
2. some sites load slow as a dog- but that is generally during high network traffic times. (read: IPL matches streaming, or Friends reunion this week)
DNS alone can't unblock sites blocked by your ISP. You'd need a VPN + DNS or a standalone VPN.
A third-party DNS only prevents your search queries from going to your ISP.

Umm, Yes, but Actuallyu No.
a Simple DNS change can't unblock sites.
But, Android Private DNS such as Cloudflare 1.1.1.1, can unblock sites.

Try 1.1.1.2 /1.0.02 (malware filter) but not 1.1.1.3 (blocks p0rn sites too). I se them for all my devices (even for ivacy vpn) some sites load slow as a dog- but that is generally during high network traffic times. (read: IPL matches streaming, or Friends reunion this week)
Does Windows have private dns feature like android one. I can't unblock sites using 1.1.1.1 application on windows. But I can unblock the sites, using private dns or 1.1.1.1 Android apps just fine.
I don't think android private dns is just a simple dns change.

Yes, if you use Cloudflare WARP with 1.1.1.1. That's what their app does; create a secure tunnel. I've found Blokada to be better than Cloudflare's app on Android.
Android's Private DNS is much more advanced than Windows' IP-only DNS.

For some reason, their windows APP can't unblock sites.
Did you enable warp in apps setting? There was another project that generated wireguard configs for warp wonder if it's still around https://github.com/ViRb3/wgcf
