larger than average free cloud storage
Since the default seems to be X-low XX GB provided for free (e.g. Dropbox: 2GB, Mediafire: 10GB, Google Drive: 15GB), these might be of interest in case you're cheap like yours truly, but are nonetheless willing to get MOAR STORAGE!11111oneone
https://keybase.io/ - 250GB of storage on steroids, i.e., among others:
- git support
- encrypted chat rooms
- static website hosting
Backed by Zoom - they should have plenty of money to burn, so I'm willing to trust them not to deadpool anytime soon
https://degoo.com/ - 100GB of (basic) storage, some things to be aware of:
- there's no desktop app
- inactive accounts get deleted after 90 days
Somewhat unsure about their long-term sustainability though, contrary to Keybase, they do not seem to have a wealthy parent company able to fund them indefinitely...
Perhaps, at the very least, they might end up cutting it after a while, similarly to how Mega.nz did (AFAIR it was 50GB no strings attached after they launched, and now it's 50GB just for a little bit, then it gets reduced to a mere 15GB)
- up to 150 GB (50GBx3) of distributed storage
- up to 150 GB (50GBx3) of bandwidth
- optional S3-compatible access layer available (rclone supported)
https://www.scaleway.com/en/object-storage/ -
- up to 75 GB of storage
- up to 75 GB of bandwidth)
- credit card required
- S3-compatible (works with rclone)
(I was able to edit the original post after all)
Since as mentioned at the beginning of the post, smaller options are aplenty, but In case you know any other large (let's say 50GB+?) free options, please share them as well!

Great post, OP! Just signed up for keybase. Despite having a gsuite, I am always on the lookout for free cloud storage. There used to be chinese cloud services, baidu, which had around 1TB cloud storage for free. Yandex also had more than the average storage. Not sure about current status, but there is less and less free storage on offer by the major players
Sadly, Yandex seems to be only 10GB nowadays.
Also, having tried to upload something bigger to Degoo, I just noticed there's a hidden limit - the max file size for free accounts is 512MB...

Back in the day I had access to several computers so I just installed Dropbox and added myself as a referral and now I have like 18GB.
Thanks for the post I'll give Keybase a try and see what's hip.
Thats still available and if someone doesn't want to do the effort of new accounts and referrals , can buy this referral service on ebay for $3/4
I already have a Keybase account. Does it automatically have 250 GB of space?
Zoom doesn't really come across as thrustworthy in regards to security and privacy, given historic incidents, hope it's not as bad as one might fear ...

You can easily store and share files from any device you use Keybase on. Individuals can store up to 250 GB and teams can store up to 100 GB. Anything you add to Keybase Files is automatically end-to-end encrypted and signed by you.
Since it's encrypted by default as per the above snippet, I am not that worried (then again, I won't be keeping there anything close to state secrets:P) More details on security: https://book.keybase.io/security

On Mega those of us that kept accounts current still have 50GB of free storage. The Android app is pretty good.

Yeah, I don't know, for free big storage, there will always be a significant catch (or more than one significant catch) somewhere, and so I personally just prefer to pay for a low-end storage VPS so that I can remain independent.
I have no serious qualms about using Google's free 15GB or Yandex's free 10GB because these seem to be reliable storage options of a modest size that are backed by big well-known players (and with minimal catches), but for >15GB, I just prefer to get a low-end storage VPS.
(Just my two cents)
"A single swap file or partition may be up to 128 MB in size. [...] [I]f you need 256 MB of swap, you can create two 128-MB swap partitions." (M. Welsh & L. Kaufman, Running Linux, 2e, 1996, p. 49)
This one killed me
Other than that, judging by a sample of negative comments I went through, the catch here seems to be

Does Storj still delete your files after 90 days no matter what? I read this Reddit.

up to 150 GB (50GBx3) of bandwidth
optional S3-compatible access layer available (rclone supported)

Koofr Cloud Storage: Lifetime Subscription (1TB) for $119.99 with coupon KOOFR40 [aff link]
Are you sure? I haven't uploaded that much data yet, but I asked about this and unless I misunderstood, support told me it's a total of 75G for both...

They told me it's 75GB+75GB few months ago. Also it's what I understand from their pricing page.
How should I go about using the scaleway S3 as an alternate to Google Photos? Any seamless android integration that just works?
Hmmmmm...
That's what I thought too at first, but this is my support case from a month ago, FWIW (Maybe they changed it just recently?)

OneDrive (for business) offers 1TB free storage for students.
I haven't read the terms, but I hope those business drives are more privacy focused.
The storage seems to be lifetime and as far I know your university does not need a MS subscription.

it would require quite a circus. Not free, but O365 family sub is decent value @6x 1TB - on sale regularly @50 gbp
Need it anyway for Office apps for me & sister and at ~5 bucks a month its good value for reliable backup (being MS they aren't going under & it's addressable via duplicati for proper incremental backups)
