I think you've probably already answered the question yourself. They're a client and not your friend, which means this is business and they're paying you for an agreed service. Sure, you should be nice and there's certainly a right and wrong way to go about this but if you approach this from a business mindset a quick email to clarify on the limits and to politely explain the situation is the right thing to do.
Conduct a giveaway to boost brand visibility, which will also lead to generating a few minor sales. You have the option to offer something like a 500GB FTP storage plan that is hosted on a web server using some sort of magical nonsense.
Modify your AUP to include a $25 charge for activating Port 25. A few of those minor sales actually convert which brings you in some more income.
Keep an eye on the free giveaway plan until they are nearly at full capacity. Violate their privacy and change their root password so you can find anything which will allow you to extort them. Suspend their services and restrict all access whilst demanding a fee for them to recover their data.
Repeat / scale this as necessary.
We extend our gratitude to @CharityHost_org for generously sharing their strategy with everyone.

Did you sell unlimited disk space and now your client has ever growing demand?
You don't. A limit gives the impression service will stop when reached. If it's still active, how is it being limited?

Were the limits communicated and agreed upon when the client signed up for the service?
Or are you trying to impose new limits mid cycle?
No hostname left!

Maybe you mean that you don't want customers to occupy resources for a long time. You need to make it clear in the terms.

I bench YABS 24/7/365 unless it's a leap year.
Is that a @CharityHost_org reference?
Never make the same mistake twice. There are so many new ones to make.
It’s OK if you disagree with me. I can’t force you to be right.
