LakeNetworks is now sponsoring a Route64 node

Hi guys!
LakeNetworks is excited to announce a new partnership with Route64, we’re now sponsoring one of their nodes in Italy! 🇮🇹
What is Route64?
Route64 is a non-profit organization offering free IP transit to the internet community. Their fully automated platform allows users to create tunnels and access transit through a client area.
- Automated Tunnels: Establish connections within minutes using various protocols such as SIT, GRE, GRETAP, WireGuard, and L2TPv3.
- Free IPv4 & IPv6 Transit: Get access to unmetered transit services with capacities up to 200Mbps, with options for higher bandwidth upon request.
- Automated BGP Sessions: Announce your own ASN to the Internet via IX/Tunnel
- Free IPv6 IP Space: Get your IPv6 subnet up to /56, with additional subnets available upon request.
As one of our goals is to improve the global adoption of IPv6, this collaborations ensures that users in Italy and surrounding regions can benefit from improved network performance when installing a tunnel to access IPv6
We are proud to support Route64’s mission and look forward to the positive impact this sponsorship will bring to the community.
Thank you for your continued support.
Best regards,
The LakeNetworks Team

Does this mean August is still alive?

I don't think that Route64 is still managed by August, we are talking with "strex"
Route64 is managed by strex for as long as we remembered.
However, we are no longer using this service.
From time to time, he goes into a coma and the platform starts to fall apart, with nodes going offline and prefixes disappearing.
When he wakes up, most of problems get fixed.
The cycle repeats every few months.
No hostname left!
I hope that this won't happen again, by the way I think that as long as the node stays online he don't have much to do; I do see him very active right now, he is upgrading the project day by day as of now
Unable to create tunnel
Notification: No free subnet for transport network found, please try later again.
Reporting right now to him
He just replied:
"Tunnelbroker service isn’t active for this node as well for others. Tunnelbroker is just enabled for dedi servers yet. BGP tunnels only at the moment"
@lakenetworks It is good to see that you don't know what you are sponsoring
We assumed that the service was included as he didn't tell us that it wouldn't be activated. By the way, he said that as the server is good he will activate the tunnelbroker feature this night
A while ago there was also the Pomezia node
Hi,
Tunnelbroker service has been activated this night
Are you expecting 99.9999% SLA for a free service?
The all seeing eye sees everything...
We are not expecting downtimes that lasts months.
No hostname left!
Does route64 place great importance on transparency?

edit: I quickly checked, and their SSL certificate has expired.
Feeling a bit tired, let's call it a day.
The SSL certificate is valid for me
