Looking for MXroute & Mango Mail like email host

TL:DR what other hosting that provide email hosting for unlimited user, pay only for the storage, like MXroute & Mango Mail?

So I have been using OnePoundEmail / MXroute and it has been great so far.
I like their email hosting pricing (pay for storage, unlimited user & domain), plus their deliverability is great.
i'm also aware Mango Mail is similar, but have not tried it yet.
Most other email hosting i know, their pricing is counted using per user rate.

So other than those 2, is ther any other email hosting that has pricing for X amount storage, with unlimited user & domain?

P.S. i dont wanna host my own email server. its pain in the *ss.

  • Purelymail is a good alternative. Their pricing starts at $10/year.

  • I still have Mailcheap on my list of options to try for that use case: https://www.mailcheap.co/enterprise-shared.html

I'm aware of them, and AFAIK they are in beta, so could be buggy :p .
im not sure how to feel about that, but i do like their honesty.

@milkboy You might want to look at Migadu.

Since I started using Migadu a few years ago, I get (I think) 100% inbox delivery to Gmail. Fast support, zero frustration.

You mentioned "per user rate." One thing I like about Migadu is that I can use multiple addresses at multiple domains for the price of only one Migadu account. I don't know about "unlimited users," though. Maybe ask them?

There's a thread here with something like a 50% off offer for LES. I don't have the link handy, but I probably can find it if you need it. My guess is they still might honor the discount.

Good luck finding the mail provider which works best for you!

I hope everyone gets the servers they want!

  • I have been using purelymail for over 18 months now, on an Advanced Payment plan. costing me less than $0.50 per month, well has now hit the $0.50 mark now

You are currently using 2.4 GiB of compressed mail storage (3.3 GiB uncompressed).

I use this along with a self-hosted Addy.io (AnonAddy) instance for mail aliasing and purelymail as a relay for it.

So (according to the stats) you basically send 300-400 emails per month to other Purelymail accounts?

StorageAMD EPYC VDS (ref) up to 4TB NVMe & 10TB SAN disk / Big HDD VPS (ref) from $2.42/mth/TB

    after another read.

so I relay emails via my addy.io instance to an email address within purelymail.

There is or at least was (I don't have the link handy) a discussion on their website about the extensive free tier that they used to have. In the discussion it says (said) that, after some years, they discontinued their free tier, because it was taking 80% of their total effort.

You will learn something when your email recipients start showing you the headers of your incoming emails arriving via Migadu and you see stuff like spam score reduced -5.00 because it's from Migadu.

I don't even remember what I am paying Migadu. I have the LES discount from their intro thread here. So it's fifty cents or a dollar a month. Each month I send a few dozen hand written emails from a couple of different domains. I'm on a few mailing lists, so I do receive significantly more email than I send.

I could drop in NetBSD pkgsrc on any server, spin up their well maintained and updated qmail package, and host my own. But no way could I get the deliverability that I get from Migadu. By deliverability, I mean that the message gets inboxed, not just that the receiving MTA accepts the message.

One of the best things about Migadu is their customer support. You can ask them stuff, and they reply. If you really want a free trial, and then you will want the LES discount, maybe open a Migadu account and send them a ticket. I'm pretty sure that you can open an account without paying. If you ask politely, maybe they will say yes.

My guess is that Migadu isn't for everybody. Their business account prices are higher. (But they let me run MetalVPS email on the lowest price tier.) You have to configure the MX records in your DNS. Last but not least, and not for Yetis, I don't know, but I can't imagine how Migadu could get their great deliverability without being super careful to eliminate outgoing spam.

    @AuroraZero Hope this helps!

I can also vouch for Migadu, been using them for a few years and never experienced any type of issue. It just works.

That is a verb, as in shoving a poker up your ass. One assumes that you actually mean free stuff, of which there is no plural (just like the word information).

What, like mxroute, that flags anything with cron in the email title?

My experience: Yetis - like their fuzzy friends the alpacas - know 'stuff' has no plural but enjoy using it anyway to maliciously poke others. :)

Yeah thats on of my concern with mxroute, plus a bunch of anecdote they terminate account without even a warning.
    lack of communication concern me.

One of my* (i'm their one man IT dept) small business deals in sourcing many industrial new & old/obsolete equipment.
The team are IT illiterate, even with the training they sometimes forget what not to do.
High spam score do sometimes get sent since need to send unsolicited email multiple new vendor for certain parts.
as with other businesses, MS PC sometimes also get infected with virus that spam email, that usually dealt within hours.
once every couple of years i do get contacted by my provider for abuse with dealt rather quickly.

for this reason i only use mxroute for personal stuff.

i'm looking for email provider that are business friendly.

  • Here is the link to the mentioned article on their previous free plan:
    https://migadu.com/pricing/#what-happened-to-the-free-plan

If you like cheap and not per-user pricing, I can vouch for both Purelymail and Migadu. My experience with Migadu is probably outdated now (last time I used them they had a free tier and different pricing) but the vibe I get is that they're still the same.

I'm also a fan of Fastmail, but they don't have the pricing you're looking for unless all the emails are owned by yourself and you don't mind paying more for a premium service. Their service is better suited for one user who has a bunch of domains and addresses.
