$13 Xeon Dedis from OneProvider

For those that crave cheap dedicated servers like myself I've just noticed OneProvider has restocked a couple of the cheaper Xeon E3-1220's in France. Currently only $13 p/mnth for the 8GB RAM & x2 TB HDD's with another offer for 16GB RAM & x2 450GB SAS HDD's

$13 Deal - https://oneprovider.com/configure/dediconf/2708
$17 Deal - https://oneprovider.com/configure/dediconf/2709

No idea to be honest but the AUP page mentions the "BrainStorm Network" - https://oneprovider.com/about-us/acceptable-usage-policy

I've ordered one of the 8GB Xeons so I'll be able to check once it's delivered

  • Quite tempting to be honest! :)

  • These seem to be old online.net boxes, I remember renting one quite a few years back (the MegaRAID HW RAID was the most peculiar characteristic).

  • Paris and Amsterdam are Online.net (resold via OneProvider). Network is usually pretty good but everything else is meh (depending on the hardware config). Be wary of their support and if you have a hardware problem, be prepared to get a separate/new box and reinstall/transfer-data - there's almost no hope of getting a fix "in-place".

If it ain't broke, things will work (as well as they can for the configs).

  • Too tempting! See what the $17 box performs like.

  • If the 13$ machine had at least 16gig of memory so you could use it for something.

As mentioned most servers in Paris and Amsterdam with Fair Usage traffic are resold from Online.net.
Depending on the actual destination, their network connectivity can be usable (or not).
However you may also find offers in Amsterdam with a certain amount of traffic included. Those are most likely resold from LeaseWeb (with pretty decent connectivity).

The only people I know selling dedicated rasp pi 5's are Dataideals - who are out of stock & only provide a 64gb boot drive. So for the $7 more I'll take the extra 1936GB of storage.
